Replaced a 50+ Year Old Bates

Our old Bates bedspread was past the point of repair. Every time we sat on the bed, there was another rip. My sewing machine couldn't take it anymore and had to be sent away to the sewing machine farm. I grew up using Bates bedspreads at my Grandma's house and loved them so much. It was a point of pride to be the one who had the best Bates Bumps on your face after a nap in the summertime. I also spent my summers vacationing at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, where these bedspreads are used. I have many fond memories of summer nights as a child (before they put in AC!) listening to the horses clip-clopping by at night through the open window while enjoying the perfect summer weight bedspread. Now, my daughter is enjoying the tradition of sleeping under a Bates. She asks for it by name when the weather gets warmer. Please don't ever stop making these.

Broken heart mended

My mother worked at “the mill” before she married my father and when she passed I inherited the white George Washington’s Choice bedspread she purchased decades ago. Sadly a recent accident caused a rip in the bedspread. I was heartbroken. What a joy to find I could purchase a new one and in a queen size, along with coordinating shams. The color options are lovely and I chose linen. Learning they are made to order, made this so special and the 6-8 weeks quoted ended up being much sooner. The quality is amazing as is the customer service! My granddaughter looks forward to having this now passed on to her. Thank you for everything.

Best bedspread

This is my third Bates bedspread that I have purchased in 40 years. Each one has lasted for 20 years. I use it on my bed year round. It gets laundered every 3 months, yet it stands up. Yes, they are not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for!
