Vintage 12

I love how much "maturity" this mic has on its highs and lows! I normally don't like too much color on mics, ESPECIALLY condenser mics, since they can get incredibly muddy in almost no time at all. This microphone does it the right way! Not muddy in the slightest. I almost bit the bullet on the V47, since I know how a 47-style capsule sounds on me (and love it), but I don't have a C12-style mic, so I took a chance. Glad I did!

Amazing!

I recorded some vocals. My chain was the Black Lion Audio Auteur preamp into an SSL AlphaMADI converter. From there into the Manley VoxBox plugin. All I had to do was add some compression, roll off the low end using the 120hz setting, and the vocals sound phenomenal. I like a bit more brightness so I added some high shelf at 12k. Cuts right through the mix. Really floored at how good this mic sounds. Haven’t tried it on anyone else yet but if the vocals are any indicator of how good this thing sounds, it will sound great on everything else well. Once I get more money I’d like to get a matched pair for overheads, room, whatever I need in stereo. Definitely get one, or two, you will not be disappointed. Oh and the wooden box is really nice. Well done.

Smooth and detailed

The mic sounds really good. Great, in fact. It worked well on all three singers I’ve tried it on, both male and female. The recordings sit well in the mix. The only difficulty with this mic is awkward placement due to the limited angle of the clip. Otherwise the sound and quality is magnificent.
