Calmer® Max Earplugs

Very comfortable and easy to wear

These feel very comfortable in the ear, when first putting in you do hear a bit of head noise but I found I adjusted quickly (though speaking still sounds a bit funny). Overall they do help lessen background noise and I think these would be a great product for anyone easily overstimulated as they are comfortable and easy to wear without making it difficult to have a conversation.

I ordered the Calmer Max on the very first day of its product launch and was really looking forward to it while waiting for the delivery, but my first impression upon receiving it was a bit disappointing. Cons 1. The product is 3D-printed rather than injection-molded, so the surface is quite rough. 2. Compared to the Calmer Pro, the Max has a smaller opening and is less breathable. Also, the Pro features an aluminum alloy inner core that helps dissipate heat from the ears, whereas the Calmer Max feels extra stuffy in hot weather. 3. There is a microphonic (stethoscope) effect; chewing sounds are extremely amplified when wearing the earplugs, and my own voice sounds a bit strange. The biggest advantage that the Calmer series holds over competitors has disappeared in this product. 4. The aluminum alloy storage case is cute, but it’s also the reason I need to buy a second pair. I usually hang the earplugs on my keychain, but within two months, they detached from the keychain. I was heartbroken because finding out right as I was heading out that I couldn't find my earplugs was a bit devastating. 5. Although it comes with three pairs of tips, they feel generally too large? Even the smallest tip feels a bit tight. Pros: 1. Just like the Pro, you don't quite know why it works, but after using it for a while, you notice: oh, it actually helps! That is also why I am buying a second pair. 2. Simple and discreet design, and they don't easily fall out. 3. The storage case is very cute. The Calmer Max reduces volume, making it suitable for going out on the street, while the Calmer Pro doesn't affect volume or conversation, making it better suited for work.

Could be better. Not sold.

A bit like having cotton wool in your ears. You can hear your own voice internally quite a lot. I'd prefer the amount of what I hear externally to be cut by at least as much again. Overpriced for what they are. Need to leave them in and get used to them being in a while for airports and rail stations.
