Advanced Slickster Plate Carrier

KISS. It’s a great carrier.

I have been eyeing this rig for years, and now that I finally have it, it is my primary rig. I had a standard slickster for years, so the fit and operation are all very familiar to me, but I like the added retention of the cummerbund and the admin pouch integrated into the front bag. Having an external admin pouch on the chest always seemed to get in the way and bulk up the vest, and I never kept enough doo-dads in there to justify using it. This little pocket, however, is perfect. If you want a lightweight, no bs, function over form (though it is quite good looking) plate carrier, then this is the rig you want.

Fit and finish are exactly as expected. Utilizing government overrun SAPI plates (level 3) the carrier fits well and the elastic cumberband kepts it snug to your chest and back. The sewn in magazine pouches, laser cut molle, and small admin pocket on the front are nice touches with plenty of velcro throughout. Only gave 4 stars because it arrived randomly and packaged poorly, sliding about the box with no filler material or even an invoice. Also, the aforementioned laser cut molle is appealing to the eye but I've already started to see wear on some of the edges from weaving straps and reconfiguring the carrier. Lastly, the shoulder straps and lack of padding/covering. They're made from the same material as the rest of the carrier but if you don't have spare pads or wraps they're going to dig into your neck. All in all its a solid platform to build off of but I don't recommend it being your first.
