Bye bye Tumi
15 years as a traveling consultant felt like the I needed a Tumi as part of my uniform. I was looking for something different, crafted, designed thoughtfully, memorable, local, personality - this bag couldn’t be better. It’s like all the goodies you d come to expect in a well designed with the end user in mind, but with a distinctive edge that makes you stand out from the crowd without trying hard. I spent hours researching, lots of LLM promoting, YouTube reviews, you name it - because that’s what it takes to not just fall for the default Tumi draw or other alternatives that are poorly designed but screaming contemporary (for the trying too hard to be techie) or overly gaudy and expensive (for the banker). This bag was just right and literally I had emails from humans, like Gary actually wrote me as my bag was a bit delayed fo delivery as they were waiting for a specific part - what! How real and human and craft is that!! Love the experience of buying the product. Everything they say, trust it - exactly what you get. Every feature in the bag just works beautifully - fits my macbook 13 like a glove, and doom do a notebook, a little wires and accessories bag, a book to read, an iPad, shades (I use my water bottle sleeve to my shades instead), and a slew of kickbacks I carry while traveling (eye mask to rest on the flight, ear buds, wallet, wired earphones in case my AirPods die), an energy bar in case United runs out of inflight menu and I get hungry, gum, 2-3 badges for my office, mh client offices, pens, my tide pen to remove stains in case mh coffee splashes and I am running to a meeting, and little notes and drawings my my boys to remind me home is where love is. This beats the Tumi - makes me feel liberated finally from corporate capitalism and back to how we used to make and buy things - full stack craftsmanship. Thank you Waterford! I haven’t felt like this with a purchase since when I bought my fist Dyson 25 years ago!
