I owned this album on CD as well as in a 24bit-192kHz high resolution file version already but the sound quality of those does not stand a chance compared to this DSD256 transfer by HDTT. It just sounds so much more like real music. Great tracks, great sound, what's not to like?

Hank Mobley- Soul Station is excellent Album!

Soul Station is a great hard bop jazz album. Mobley plays the sax with real soul. This is a great Jazz Album. Well recorded, with the DXD 352.8-24 version capturing all that was on the tape.

Fixes some issues with the Blue Note record

I have this title on Blue Note record, and this download sounds very much the same, except that in the Blue Note record, you can hear that the tape distorts from time-to-time. That distortion is worse when there are loud notes played. I here Hank Mobley's sax distort a couple of places in nearly every song. In this download, I do not hear the tape distortions, but the download sounds similar to the Blue Note, but only in those passages that are distortion-free. It's possible that different tapes were used for the record vs the download, but in the end, I enjoy listening to the download much more than the record. In fact, I probably won't listen to the record anymore and just stick solely with the download. In the download, all of the instruments are easy to discern. You can easily point out where each member of the band is located (in the sonic image/soundstage). I could hear some tape hiss, but it didn't bother me one bit because it is light and nonintrusive. All of the instruments sounded correct, and they were presented with much sonic detail - cymbals sounded right and not fizzy, the bass wasn't tubby, etc. Overall, this is probably about as good as this album is going to sound. Even if someone tries to remaster this album in the future, my guess is that finding a master tape will be a serious issue.
