Kunming Aged Raw Pu-erh Tea Sampler

Not my cup of tea

Delivery and overall organisation were perfect. I am grateful for the opportunity to taste five samples, but I found the raw pu-erh teas not to my taste - too bitter and some even verging on the unpleasant. I followed the instructions for making proper pu-erh, but still the result was not to my liking. One other sheng I had tasted before I likes very much unusual as it was - had a strong cooked rice fragrance, quite appealing. The ripe pu-erhs though I liked very much. Thank you, Yunnansourcing, for the chance to know my preference in pu-erhs.

First off let me say that probably all the samplers on the site are worth the educational experience and I've decided to throw one in each time I order off the .com site. I've bought many of the Guangdong and Banna stored teas from YS usually in whole cakes. They are almost always a sure bet for me. But I didn't really know where to start with "dry stored" aged teas on the site. The sampler gave me a great place to try different areas and appreciate the different flavors without the "wet stored" taste. Some were hits for this wetter storage sheng guy and some were misses but all were worth while. Now if i could only justify a whole cake of that 2000 CNNP "Zhang Xiang Bu Lang".....

I ordered a Pu-erh sampler because there are just so many varieties to choose from. As is to be expected, some samples were better than others, but I've discovered a couple of gems to order next time. The packaging and labeling are nice, and I received them quickly.
