Blush onions a favorite!

We love Blush Onion which we have grown for at least 5 years! They are crisp and sweet even after long storage! In late April we used the only one left from last year’s harvest, in a delicious salad. We very highly recommend Blush Onion!

Really beautiful onion. I bought them for their appearance and storability. I've only been storing them for a couple months but so far so good. The papery layer is a brownish pink, and the outermost inside layer is more of a fuchsia or amethyst color, just like in the picture. Nice flavor and the color fades after being cooked. In my location we have allium leaf miners, so I would recommend using a row cover over the onions in the spring if they are an issue in your area. I didn't have row cover and instead pinched off parts of the leaves where I noticed insect damage (lines of white dots). This probably set back their growth a little bit, but it seems to have been largely effective in saving my onions and I haven't noticed any damage to the bulbs themselves. I will be using row cover next time to encourage plant health however.
