CrabCoat Exterior Marine Finish Clear, UV TopCoat

First time

A customer requested an outdoor sign done in white oak for his business and asked that I use a clear coat on it that would not change the color. I am an oil finish guy and when it comes to water base finishes I never touch the stuff. Until now. I needed to seal the tannins in the oak , so first I used the It's Knot Shellac, one of the few water based clear sealers available, and followed it up with the Satin Crab coat. I have to say I am impressed so far with the product. It applied easily and leveled well. The sign has five coats of CrabCoat on top of three of the shellac sealer. This is in northern Illinois so the weather will test the durability of this finish. This experience has made me rethink my opinion of water based finishes. I would use both of these products again.

Great for exterior projects

I ordered CrabCoat because I needed a sealant that was water-based and good to use outside. I used it on a ola ter we made this spring. So far so good! Went on easily and cleaned up with soap & water! Looks great so far!
