Brite Tone Instrument Finish / High Solids Polyurethane

I love Brite Tone!

I have been using Brite Tone for years, applying it over Z-Poxy with a foam brush after adding the recommended amount of Reducer/Retarder. The current formulation flows out so beautifully that brush marks are a thing of the past, and the inevitable bubbles are tiny and are easily sanded out when I scruff sand between coats. I'm attaching photos of my 3 Koa Sisters instruments after 10 coats of Brite Tone. In the past I would apply 20 coats because I had to sand off so much, but now I feel confident that 12 will be plenty for the back and sides, 10 for the tops. This koa is the most beautiful wood I have used, and the Brite Tone makes it glow!

So far so good!

I have just started using this on two different guitar builds; I am still in the application phase, but so far it goes on smoothly and self-levels very well. Unfortunately I've got to wait out the full cure time before buffing, but I'm looking forward to see how it sands/buffs compared to other finishes I've used (Behlen, StewMac, Varathane, Minwax, etc). I'm anticipating great results based on other reviewers' success!

I love, love, love this product. The best varnish I have EVER used. I wish I knew the “crafter” who recommended it. I would buy her a case of champagne.
