Cobra Monitor

The Cobras came well packed in sturdy wooden crates. Simply put the Cobras are amazing. They have NO discernable box sound or any character of their own - change the ancilliary equipment and they can sound quite different - you hear what you are feeding them. They are effortlessly dynamic. They have the ease, scale and body of large floor standers, and are more seamless and coherent than most of them - in fact i havent heard anything "better" at less than 5 or 6 times the price of the Cobras. (not just my opinion - I had a hifi designer over to listen to his latest amps and he kept on getting up to look for the subs or the speakers that "we were really listening to". He really couldn't believe that the small Cobras were producing the sound he heard.) Just be aware that to get the absolute best out of the Cobras, you need to use the same sort of care, in your positioning and set-up of them, that went into the design and construction of them. If you do set them up correctly they are simply incredible speakers.

I've had these speakers for a while now and I really like them. What impressed me the most is the midrange – it sounds very natural and simply enjoyable to listen to. Vocals are beautiful, full of life and emotion. I often catch myself just listening to music instead of analyzing the sound. There’s also a lot of “juice” in the presentation – the sound is rich and full, never dry or overly technical. Instruments have very nice tone and everything feels coherent and easy to get into. Even during longer listening sessions nothing becomes tiring. I previously tested the Viper model, and these bigger brothers have everything I liked about it, just more of it – a bigger sense of scale, more ease and an even more beautiful midrange. Vocals in particular sound really lovely and natural. Overall a very successful purchase. The music just flows and makes you want to keep playing more records. It's hard to believe that they deliver sound on the same scale as large floor-standing speakers
