Gina Housedress Black Coffee

The Gina makes me feel put together! This wrap style dress is great alone, layered underneath or over! Black coffee makes it a classic in my closet.

I love the dress, but...

I love the dress, but I am torn. First, I was surprised to find the tag stating "made in China." The website prominently displays a "Handcrafted Quality" banner, which led me to believe I was buying a handmade item from a small business. While manufacturing in China is disclosed elsewhere on the site, pairing that with "Handcrafted Quality" branding is misleading. Next, for an item made in China, it was quite expensive. The fabric is very nice and it is well constructed, but the price point reflects what you would expect from a handmade small-business item rather than manufactured goods. As far as fit, the straps fall off because they seem to be placed quite far apart on the back of the dress, and the skirt wrap doesn't wrap far enough — so if you are outside and the wind blows, someone is getting a show (luckily it was only my husband!). If I sized up to correct the wrap issue, the strap problem would only get worse. I will need to add some sort of closure to keep the dress properly closed in back, and alter the straps so they stay up. I will likely eventually use this dress as inspiration for my own pattern so I can make one that fits better. Overall, it is a nice garment, but I was disappointed by the gap between the brand's presentation and the reality of what it is.
