X64 SD

I've had this for a few weeks now, I can honestly say, it's incredible. I love everything about it. The power and build quality, the adjustment knob feels firm and solid, the speed and quietness of it. All fantastic. This is almost an end game machine. The only thing that could be better is if it had the auto adjust that connected to the scale...for the price though there is truly not a better machine. Great job mahlkonig team. Truly.

We owned Breville grinders and a NS grinder and NS Musica in the past, then we graduated into this decade with all new gear. It paid off. Our grinder of choice recently was the Turin DF64 G2. Lots of refinements over the G1 and it was perfectly adequate. But then we got this unit and promoted it as our daily use - its much quieter - not sure how the reviews all managed to miss that point but having both next to each other it a huge advantage. And the coffee seems to grind out better with more consistent extraction, we can't conclude on taste as we changed beans during the swtich. Static in white) is present but about the same as the DF with its anti-static electic contact in the grind stream. THe x64 simply has a better lean angle and so more distance to cling on to a surface. Its also smaller and appears to be a more attractive design that the DF unit which is probably the main alternative and competition. the 64mm size is a standard and good for after-market discs if that becomes interesting now or later. The grind size manipulation favors right handed simple adjustment and the power button is easy to see and press whereas the DF is on the side hidden at the bottom of the cylinder.

This is a sturdy, well crafted grinder. I love the weight of it and all the attention to detail like the dial mechanism and how it is pretty quiet compared to my old grinder. Love it.
