The bike required minimal assembly. The brakes were installed but the front tire had to be put on. After doing this I checked the front brake operation. This is when I discovered that the brakes are terrible. There is no keeper on the brake spring. Every time the brake was applied the spring would pop out of it's housing and wedge between the fork and the brake mount. As soon as this happens the brake will not work properly. I tried and tried and tried, without success. I spent hours trying to correct the issue. Finally I purchased a new brake. Which fixed the problem. You shouldn't have to repair a new bicycle.

Incredible bike for the price. Weighs about 23-25 pounds depending on if you keep the kickstand and derailleur guard on. Bike has a replaceable derailleur hanger, an actual free hub and cassette, branded Promax v-brakes, 1x drivetrain, and appropriately sized cranks for shorter legs. It has branded, quick release hubs, a good saddle, an actual threadless headset. You don’t need to do any upgrades out of the box but because the frame is based on common standards, upgrading any part of this bike is easy. My experience with Kent bikes has only been seeing low quality models in department stores but this is much higher in quality.
