Cooking 1 is one of the best homeschool resources I’ve ever used. You will not need to supplement, it’s fun and engaging, if your child has a question it is most certainly answered in the book. For example, we don’t use non stick pans but the first couple of recipes call for one. I began to teach my child how to use a stainless or cast iron pan instead and then looked at the book and realized they covered that! The recipes have also turned out fantastic so far. Highly recommend, would absolutely purchase again. Hopefully Cooking 2 is released before next summer!

I love the layout of the book. Each lesson is organized around a specific recipe and incorporates practical instruction, safety guidance, scientific information, and engaging fun facts. I am particularly impressed by the detailed explanations of ingredient varieties—such as the distinctions among different types of tomatoes and their ideal culinary uses, including the suitability of plum tomatoes for sauces, pastes, and purées. I look forward to future cookbooks that introduce progressively advanced techniques, especially as my child loves to cook and will grow alongside the material.
