it is beautiful. I love the colors and the etching. The Self sharpening is not what I thought. when I think "self-sharpening" I think it is individual sharpeners built into the slots, so when you take them out or place them into a slot, they are sharpened. it appears to mean that the block has a sharpener built into it. you still have to actually sharpen the knives using this sharpener. I have not actually used it yet. but it is at the top of the block and may not be at a usable angle for shorter people to use effectively. I may continue to use the sharpeners I already owned.
