A powerful headlamp for a narrow audience
The Black Diamond Distance LT 1100 is a high‑performance headlamp built primarily for trail runners. It delivers powerful brightness and reliability, but some features limit its appeal for mountaineers. The lumen output is terrific, yet the lack of brightness memory means you’ll need to readjust intensity every time you turn it on. It only offers mode memory. The 1100‑lumen boost is particularly good on technical terrain, though the side‑touch activation doesn’t work well with gloves. Battery life is strong for its size, and carrying a spare battery is especially useful in cold environments. Build quality feels premium, though not as rugged as the Storm series. The headband is comfortable and removable, but less modular than the Storm series. You can’t fully detach it to mount the lamp on backpack straps, which makes sense given its runner‑focused, bounce‑free design. Weight is acceptable, though slightly bulkier than Petzl’s Swift series, which may be lighter but has its own frustrating interface. BD interfase remains the best. Overall, the Distance LT 1100 is a dependable option for users who prioritize maximum output. Runners will appreciate it most; mountaineers may find themselves babysitting this fancy piece of gear.

Love this headlamp for all of the above reasons. The buttons feel intuitive. It’s comfortable to wear while moving. I am very happy with my purchase.

Solid headlamp with easy changeable spare battery (sold separately). Not the lightest available, but solid for non-running activities.
