Great Watch, Needs Some Tweaks

I spent quite a while looking for an everyday watch before settling on the Fieldtimer, and overall I’m extremely happy with it. It’s a handsome, distinctive watch that manages to feel simple and elegant while still having a slightly whimsical personality. I particularly love the Atlantic Blue dial and the Bonklip bracelet. The interchangeable straps give it even more range. With that said, I found both the nylon and leather straps extremely stiff and uncomfortable out of the box, almost cutting me, and expect they will need considerable breaking in or outright replacing. My biggest disappointment is legibility. The blue dial and numerals look beautiful in good natural light, but in many indoor lighting conditions the numerals almost disappear, and the watch really needs to be viewed straight-on to read it easily - a watch's top job is to tell me the time, so this will take some adjusting. The domed crystal also picks up fingerprints and reflections. At nearly $900, these drawbacks feel more pronounced, and the Fieldtimer is frankly expensive for what is ultimately a fairly simple mechanical watch. That said, they haven’t stopped me from really enjoying it. The Fieldtimer feels well made, looks much more refined than a typical field watch, and has enough character that I expect it will get a lot of wrist time.

Camp clearly make beautiful watches - but it’s the service that really took this purchase over the top for me. You can tell that Justin truly values his customers and takes care to build relationships with the community. Highly recommend!

Fantastic case design. It is very unique but also works very well. The dimensions are great on paper and also translate to a very comfortable on wrist experience. One of the best wearing watches that I tried on. The dial is very deep and it is of the highest quality in terms of consistency. Even under harsh indirect lighting, I couldn’t find any imperfections at all. The fact that they include 2 straps and a bracelet for very competitive pricing is laudable. That being said, the dial doesnt have a lot of contrast indoors when viewed off axis and the depth of the dial in this blue color is not always apparent because the text is thin and doesnt cast shadows all the time. I decided to get the red color instead for reasons stated above and Justin the owner was very kind to accept the exchange. He was very quick to respond and very friendly. Overall, fantastic first watch and I for one will be looking forward to future releases.
