Empty Aluminum Blanks 6" (Pack of 5)

These are good quality blanks. I mount silicone carbide stones on them and use the SIC stones for reprofiling damaged bevels. Mounting is a bit tricky. The 3M tape recommended for mounting often fails to hold the coarse stones for any length of time. So, you are left with two-part cements or E6000 glue. Both are messy and the latter doesn’t work well if you use petroleum based oil as a lubricant. I’ve ordered 3M VHB tape as it is recommended by multiple sources. This tape is permanent and sets very quickly so it is a bit unforgiving. The stones seem to wear out quickly and my friends and neighbors have an unending supply of inexpensive stainless steel knives that they’ve mangled. I sharpen all, so I will continue to order a few of these blanks on an ongoing basis.
