DSPIAE AT-SV 135 Degree Universal Ball Vise Model Fixture

This item is absolutely beautiful, I'm not sure if I want to use it or, display it, well just like the rest of my DSPIAE tools I'll probably use it. I was really surprised of the weight and size, it seems to be very handy and durable. I absolutely love it!

After opening up the package I was pleased to see how smooth the rotational motion was, but as I went to stop the vice received a small metal splinter in my hand. Looking at the edge of the channel that guides the vice jaws I can see there is a very poorly machined edge. It also has burn marks on one side which indicates excessive heat. After looking at the rest of the edges I can feel that there is allot of unfinished edges that have been left sharp from the machining process and not de-burred or chamfered. Another problem is that there is allot of vertical play in the jaws when they are clamped down. I tried to reach out and see if this was just a bad single unit or how its designed but no reply, so i will have to say It does the job overall… but I dont think the quality matches its price.

I haven't used it in earnest yet, but in the little bits and pieces I've done, it is amazing! I can tell it will be one of my absolute go to tools, so smooth and so many options. I'm very happy with the purchase. I chose to get 3 of the valves (3 is too many, but I've got a spare now) because I thought it would be a faff with the key, but I don't think it would be too bad to be honest, and you can easily make do with 1 in fairness, just swap them over. But, they do also make a nice case for the rods when not in use 😊 The box was damaged when it arrived which was a little disappointing, but it's a very heavy item and it had come a very long way, so it's kind of understandable. I don't think it would be a purchase you'd regret unless you never use a vice, but it is soooo much more than a vice! Love it!
