Unmatched background fabrics

I loved the Pumpkin kit, it was easy to figure out & put together. However, I had 5 different designs of the background fabric, all the same color, but not enough of any of the 5 designs to complete the Pumpkin table runner. Now that the blocks are finished, it shows more than I thought it would. The sashing fabric matched one of the designs of squares, but was one of the ones with fewer pieces. If the different designs were deliberate, I wish the instructions would have mentioned it & had suggestions.
