Have always used a flat stone and a buffing wheel to sharpen head knife and round knifes. This tool made specifically for leather knives should work as advertised. Still saving to purchase the rest of the sharpening tool

Great design. You trade the ability to flip to the other side of the knife easily but the accuracy and ability to hone the compete half moon without having to keep moving the blade is worth it. I am getting more consistent and sharper edges.
