Soolla® Studio Pouch, Deep Forest Green

All around a truly amazing product. Before, I had a small bag where I had put my watercolor travel set. I had to find a quiet place to put everything out and needed a bit of time to put it back in. But with this Pouch, everything has its place and the only thing, I have to put back, is the palette and the water. This is done in seconds. I can let the brushes dry in their place and put them back together, when they are dry. I don’t have to open every brush to see which one it is, because every one has its place. As you can see, I have put the larger pens on the right of this “brush roll” part and a smaller one on the left where it fits. The fabric is perfect - not too stiff, but not too thin, so it would get wobbly - and the color doesn’t show too much color stains, but if it did, I could simply wash it. In fact, I love this pouch so much, that I use it in the studio as well. (And I think, it won’t be the last time, I got myself a treat from Soolla)

Every week I transport my equipment to our art group meeting. For the past two sessions my Soolla Studio Bag has accompanied me. I would like to say that it makes me a more organised artist, but in truth each week I agonise over what to take with me. That’s my fault for having so much gear and having a varied repertoire of subjects and materials. What I will say is that the bag is great for stashing everything I need for an evening’s painting or drawing, and an ideal companion for any Plein air work I embark on. I particularly love the outside pockets into which I can park my brushes or pens whilst working, no more picking them up from the floor! The canvas material and the colour I chose it in is very utilitarian, which suits me just fine. It’s an inspired concept, and my only criticism is that once full I struggle to get an a4 pad in it. It will go if you centre it in the bag with everything packed to the sides. The moral is, maybe work a little smaller. I also have the Studio Pouch and it too is very versatile, best suited for when I want to travel really light but still keep all the essentials accessible and tidy. I am very pleased with both my purchases and intend to use them regularly. The light weight certainly beats a pochade box. I congratulate Soolla on a super concept.
