85mm F1.8 AF Lens for Sony FE (Prima FE Series)

Some very strong pluses with a few less than stellar attributes

I struggle on occasion to find a good way to describe my thoughts as regards Samyang's lens offerings in general. Way too often I have experienced issues with centering and this lens is also slightly uncentered, although not as badly as other lenses I've owned from them. There is also chromatic aberration, but the Sony F/1.8 may even have more. That aside, this lens has some very strong positives as well. The lens is light, and that is a big plus for a traveling photographer like me. It is gasket, meaning that there is at least some attention to weather sealing, which is also a big plus. By F/4, it is definitely sharp enough even on a 61M-Pixel sensor, so I plan to keep it. If the centering had been better, I would have graded it 5 stars.
