This one is evolving. I originally bought it as the finishing stone for minor 3 stone maintenance sharpening. But out of the box it cut much harder than 3k. By the numbers an extra fine (3000 grit) stone should slot in the middle of a SPYDERCO Fine ceramic and the Ultra fine. But it cut much more like the fine(2000 grit). So, I used it in the 2k refining role. It does refine edges well and does some polishing. Over time, it has softened a bit. I think it might have helped if I had initially used a boride stone to condition it. The good news is that the stone barely wears. I’ve used it 7 or 8 times and it is still flat. If it continues to soften it may still fill my expectations as a 3k finishing stone.

Smooth, well made and a great stone to follow the 1000 grit CBN.
