Tanya, my sewing fairy godmother ❤️ (part IV)
Hi everyone! My name is Michele, I’m from Portugal, and have a teenage daughter who competes in artistic roller skating (no ice in this country… we’re very warm people 🤭) But let’s cut the chase because I really need to share this about MiSlope and Tanya. ❤️ So here goes:
I had absolutely NO professional sewing experience. None. I’m just a very artistic person whose grandmother taught her how to use an old Singer machine when I was little, sewing tiny pieces of fabric together for dolls. That was the extent of it.
I had never bought fabrics properly before, never cut a real pattern, never sewn a costume from scratch, and I didn’t even know how to take measurements correctly.
And yet… somehow… today I can create my daughter’s dream skating costumes. Entirely because I found Tanya and Mislope.
The patterns are INCREDIBLE. They fit like a glove when you follow the instructions correctly, and most importantly adapt so well to the body during performance, with exceptional coverage just where you need it and exactly how you need it. Everything is explained so clearly — even measurements, adjustments, fitting, customization… all the things that in the beginning made me feel that maybe I couldn’t do it.
But honestly? The patterns themselves are only part of what makes Mislope so special.
Tanya is there. Always. She is SOOOOO what makes Mislope incredible and so unique! Even with me being in Portugal and her in Canada, it genuinely never felt like there was a time difference between us. The support you get through her live chat is honestly unbelievable. Unless she was literally asleep, she would answer my endless questions with kindness and patience (and trust me… there were lots questions 😂). Bonus, she never, never made me feel like an amateur or that I couldn’t do it.
She gives precious tips, explains things thoroughly, updates her products constantly, and actually listens to suggestions from customers. She even keeps a list of ideas and improvements people mention, and does ahead and makes what we need! She just keeps making and adding new products, and they adapt to everything you already have easily, even if it’s not from Mislope. Fantastic. If something isn’t immediately available, she helps you find another solution.
And the cost-benefit? Amazing. One pattern can be adapted into so many different costume designs, reused forever, and measurements can be changed anytime to fit different athletes as they grow.
Without Tanya, I simply could NOT have done this. My artistic side may have imagined the costumes… but Tanya made them possible. And beyond all that, she is just such a genuinely nice person. That’s honestly the cherry on top. It almost feels like I gained a Canadian pen pal friend — except through sewing chats instead of letters haha.
So Tanya, when you read this: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Truly. I could not have done this without you. ❤️
And everyone else… feast your eyes on the costumes I made for my daughter — costumes that only became possible because destiny somehow made me stumble across Tanya’s MiSlope. I don’t believe in coincidences. This was a match meant to be. You deserve every bit of recognition for what you’ve built Tanya.
Since I can only post 5 images at a time, and Tanya helped make 4 amazing costume come true, I will just repeat this post on other MiSlope products I have since bought, each one with pictures of a different costume. ❤️
