I have really liked the series. Did a 2nd read of "Tales" 1-5 before starting "Champion". I'm mid way thru the book now. I'm a "mature" reader(71). Started sci-fi in 1964. 1st book was Ellison Wonderland. From there on I only read Science Fiction and related genres. Sword/sorcery, Tolkien, Zombies, Space opera, and, any end of the world stuff. I have a mid sized physical collection all dog-eared and read thru many times. Your writing is quick, descriptive, funny, (Fidget cracks me up) and just what everyday life is at the end/beginning. Thanks.

I have read all the Duck and Cover stories in a pretty short period of time. Each one is better than the last. Champion of the Apocalypse is the best so far. I appreciate the pacing, the character development and the humor. Jerry just gets into some of the funnist and violent situations and always figures a way out. YAY Librarian! I also love Eve and the dogs. Jerry has always had Chewy, but Eve bringing Sasquatch and Fidget into the mix ups the fun and the fury. I'm waiting with bated breath for the next book to see if Jerry's TV debut will stop the totalitarian Remnant in their tracks. I hope so.

If Douglas Adams Had Written A Post-apocalyptic Hit And Asked Pratchett To Ghost Write For Him- -this is what it would read like. Only I suspect Wallace does it better all by himself. Think The Amazing Race. Now add vampires. And people competing in incongruent costumes (how does one run in one of those giant dinosaur costumes anyway?). Then add your favorite post-apocalyptic nomadic warrior, Jerry, aka the Librarian, Eve, and the dogs. The result is a rollicking satirical adventure that doesn't let up from page one to the final chapter. This couldn't have been a more timely storyline. We need a hero. And Jerry is that guy. From the opening line: "For those watching at home, the end of the world was somewhat of a disappointment" to the end, it is a hilarious good time.
