Surprisingly breezy

The biggest problem with armored jackets in Arizona is the heat. It's already in the upper 80s and I'm still able to ride without drowning in sweat. Also, having bounced off a barbed wire fence and then fallen against a cactus, i can tell you that it provides reasonable protection.

Literally saved my back!

I was cruising around and thought to myself 'Hmm, I can't really see a way I'd fall on my back... I think I'll take that pad out when I get home...' *Two minutes later* I tried to take too curvy a curb, spun my wheel, got slammed directly flat on my back, bounced my (helmeted) head off the concrete. Basically just cracked my back like I would after sitting too long, road the next couple days in a row with no pain. So the pad is staying. It's also super well ventilated, especially if you're moving (which you should be) or there's even a slight breeze. Oh, also, not a scratch from the fall. Minus 0.00069% of a star cause there was a hole in the pocket and I couldn't find my damn sewing kit! That's mostly my fault, but the hole was yours so deduction!
