This feeder holds whole peanuts which birds can easily access. I've been looking for a replacement for an old and broken feeder that is now discontinued and this one fits the bill. I didn't want a feeder that was too large, or one that was hard to fill or clean. You do need to check the feeder - it may appear to still have peanuts in it, but that may only be empty shells that need to be dumped.

Love this Feeder

I'm having trouble with blackbirds and whole peanuts in the shell. Solved it to my liking with this feeder. I took the bottom perch off so they couldn't sit on it and eat everything. Works better than anything else I've used.
