A Good Hiking Shoe
The shoe fits a little on the big side. About 1/2 a size large I would say. The toe box fits wide and can accommodate a very thick sock. The sole is very grippy on granite, but I would say the tread depth is a bit shallow; It measures about 4mm where the tread depth on my Scarpa hiking boots is about 8mm. This shallow tread depth makes you "feel" an occasional rock as you hike over rocky trails, but it's not uncomfortable. I think these are a very good lightweight solution for summer backpacking.

Wide fit and great traction on wet or dry rock
At 64 years old and a little flat footed I need a wide toe box. These work great. I went up a fraction in size. Feel great right out of the box and have done a couple of short hikes. Will try some bouldering and scrambling shortly!

Really Like My Rapids
40 years of Scarpa and they are still the best shoe brand around. I didn't actually wear out my last pairs. After 6 plus years my son adopted them to use for his roofing job so I needed a new pair.
I use Scarpas for climbing, hiking, law enforcement work, and training snipers in rough terrain. I can't recommend another brand.
I have somewhat wide feet with a healthy arch and these fit well.
