This is a fantastic read for anyone who loves getting to know compelling characters in imaginative settings and watching a tentative relationship bloom into a deep love and respect between the main characters. Brynn and Cenric come together each with their own hardships and weaknesses, and we as readers have the privelege to watch them bring out the best in each other as their love and trust builds. I’m all in for this story!!

A hug of a romance
This book felt like such a big hug to me. The arranged marriage romance between grieving Brynn and steadfast Cenric is filled with such kindness. I swooned, cried, rooted for them through trials and misunderstandings, and was so beautifully rewarded on every step of their journey. While I'm not normally a big fan of dual POVs in romance-first stories, the MMC's POV worked for me because it added to the tension instead of detracting from it. He's very much his own person outside of the relationship with his own subplots and there are never any pathetically obsessive thoughts about the FMC meant to boost the female reader's projecting ego. The Anglo-Saxon-inspired historical fantasy setting is skillfully woven around the characters and their journeys, so it's easy to keep up. I ordered the second book halfway through reading this one and am so glad I did because I'm ready to continue with Brynn and Cenric's story! Highly recommend to anyone looking for historical fantasy romance, especially for readers who enjoy stories of hope after loss.
