Too sensitive - sometimes of little use

The thermometer is the perfect size and the battery life is long. I like that I can get different colors to match my outdoor gear. Unfortunately, the thermometer frequently reads too high. A moment of sunlight or grabbing the case for a moment is enough to artificially inflate the temperature. ThermoWorks should consider an algorithm that averages temperature over a period of time to moderate the temperature excursions. It should also look at finding a way to compensate for sunlight on the casing. If you want an accurate thermometer, the ThermoDrop is great. But if you want an accurate reading of the air temperature in a normal daily environment, consider a LESS sensitive product.

I use this thermometer clipped to my swim buoy for open water ocean swims. Not an advertised use but it has worked perfectly for anyone looking for same use. As far as durability only time will tell how prolonged use in salt water effects it. For the cost so far so good.
