Yellow Poplar Guitar Body Blank – Warm Tone, Lightweight Tonewood

I ordered two of the 3 piece, unglued poplar body blanks. They arrived quickly, were well packed for shipping, and the quality exceeded expectations. The gluing surfaces were perfect from the shop and required zero touch up prior to gluing. The surface finish is flawless, and the blanks were planed to spec at 1.75”. I am very much looking forward to progressing with my builds. Highly recommended, and I will be buying these again for future builds.

Guitar body blanks, regardless of wood type, are expensive when glued and planed to shape. Poplar is some of the least expensive blanks made and is used by many OEM makers. Poplar can be butt-ugly with streaks of green running through and is common to the species. These looked really good. Typically this wood is used for solid color finishes or by gluing a thin "drop top" of pretty wood for stains, clear, and so forth. This blank was better than expected. As with anything else, you get what you pay for...
