Size Guide Betrayed Me?

I used the measuring tape and the size guide. I checked it thrice being sure I was measuring around the correct meridian. Then: Hat arrives: beautiful! But! too small by a lot. Here’s where I’m confused: the hat is the same size as advertised AND my head has not grown. I’m sad because I will pay for shipping both ways. I don’t know that I will order and pay for shipping again for the next size up: what if it’s still too small?

Definitely not the authentic papele fit

Since this is not made of hala, it is soft, and bends easily. Therefore, the typical look of a papele, which is a flat brim all around the head, does not happen. Instead the brim sits rounded like a cowboy hat once it’s placed on your head. In order to get the look of a traditional papele, you’ll need to spend $300 so that it’s made using hala in the style and look designed to be worn. If you’re okay with the brim rounded once it’s placed on your head, then this is a perfect hat! I would have attached a pic, but didn’t see an option to do so.
