Slick Salve Lip Balm - Pomegranate

Just okay formula

I’m typically a fan of the Topicals’ Slick Salves, especially the mint and papaya. I had to grab the pomegranate one the moment I got that Topicals message, plus the whole campaign was too cool to ignore. I love a true red and looking at the pictures I thought it would be that. However in real life it leans more magenta-red and is very true to a real pomegranate tone. In that sense, the color representation is spot on. The flavor is more bubblegum than pomegranate, but to be fair, most pomegranate scented products don’t really capture the true scent or taste of an actual pomegranate anyway. Hope there is a cherry one in the future. One thing I’ve noticed with these salves is that each shade seems to have a slightly different formula consistency. The mint (my favorite) is very lightweight and runny, making it easy to apply, and the papaya is similar. The pomegranate version, though, is noticeably thicker and tackier, which makes it harder to apply. Because of that, I’m not the biggest fan of this particular one.

Sickeningly sweet, slick, and soft

I love this lip balm. I personally enjoy lip products that have “body” on the lip and this lip balm has that without being too heavy. Slick is definitely a word I would use to describe the formula. The color payout is beautiful and pomegranate has a nice scent and flavor (if you happen to get it in your mouth). The product lasts forever. I use it as a lip mask overnight and I can still feel it in the morning with great moisturizing results!
