This pen was beautiful in the Levenger catalog and I was so excited to buy it for my husband for Christmas. However, upon opening the pristine box, I couldn't have been more disappointed in the product it contained. First, it was damaged. The "gleaming 24k gold-plated engraved cap" had cracked and peeling finish from the tip and pocket clip. What looks as if it's supposed to be the Levenger tree looks like the finish is just gone. The "lustrous, polished black resin barrel" is lightweight plastic. I would compare the feel of the barrel to be similar to the free promotional pens that come in the mail. It is light as a feather without the cap on it. But even the cap doesn't have much weight to it. It appears to be some sort of resin just plated in gold. The pocket clip is actually metal, and is the only part of the pen that feels like it was made from durable materials. If you are someone who appreciates the feel of a fine pen and notice its weight and balance in your hand when writing, I would not recommend purchasing this item. It is certainly not worth its price tag, and it will save you the $8. 95 handling fee to be deducted from your return.
