Targhee Forest

Tangy soapy fresh fir-balsam opens this up, but it’s extremely complex. It’s nothing like pine-sol but more like an odor-realistic scent of the woods. The juniper is cooling, not toasty, but there’s moss and a distant citrus-musk, but very distant. Sage gives an herbal quality, but nothing completely dominates. It’s so well balanced. It does remind me of what I loved about Patou Pour Homme Prive, but without the lavender and more fuzzy moss and earth. It has the same cooling effect that is so refreshing. This is the best juniper style fragrance I’ve smelled and it does what Creed Himalaya does, but without the incense or red berries. The amber is not too much. Neither the pine, juniper, moss, etc., do too much. It’s almost like you are sitting down on a tree stump near fresh earth, moss underneath pine trees on a hike. In a way, it could be used year round because of the Christmas connotations of pine, but also spring and summer. I also think it would be appropriate for overcast days, though the amber could be like some sun peaking through the clouds, with a warmer drydown as the hiker meets the sun on his way back to base. The drydown does remind one of the drydown of Old Spice. Easily one of the most complex fragrances I’ve ever encountered.

Love these Rogue fragrances... Old school. due to the Oak Moss, but in the best way possible. The service with Lucky Scent is also outstanding. The free samples used to be a thing of the past...and then companies started charging for them. All this does is, if fragrance is good, makes me buy the full bottle. Not rocket science, trickle-down econ adherents. This is why I will continue to shop through this company.

It has a good smell.
