Recycled Glass Sand (Local Pickup Only!)

I bought 25 lbs of mixed glass sand (for a very specific use) and it definitely served its purpose! I have a lot of plants and the inevitable happened... I got a fungus gnat infestation. It was the worst I've ever had in my plant-owning life. I won't get into the details of how bad and gross it was. I tried every single solution and none of them worked. This persisted for 7 months! When I first saw Remark and Bottle Underground's website and the glass sand, I thought it could solve my problem! I topped all of my plants' soil with a layer of the glass sand (and still left a sticky trap in each one) after a couple of weeks, the gnats were all gone!! The glass sand leaves the gnats unable to get to the soil to lay eggs and is way prettier and less messy than regular sand (and cannot bring in its own pests). I have been telling all of my Philly-based, plant-owning friends that this is the way to go to get rid of these annoying gnats quickly! I will now keep some glass sand on hand for when I purchase and bring a new plant into the home to prevent any future infestations! I also love the Bottle Underground's initiative and brought a box of glass to recycle when I went to pick up my glass sand (I scheduled the drop off to coordinate), and I will continue to save all of my glass for their purpose in the future.
