Light Kit for Emperor's Throne Room Diorama 75352

Great starter kit, but a little too much blue

I heavily modified this kit. At first, I loved it, but I was a little bummed that the lightsabers aren't very bright and that you simply place an LED in the hilt, use a small piece to hold it in, and THEN plug the blade back in. It makes the sabers look out of proportion and Darth Vader's red lightsaber is a lot darker than Luke's green. You can see that in one of my photos of the original kit installed as-is (very blue). I replaced the lightsabers with fully integrated LED sabers, took down the two strips of blue LED lights that frame the arch of the throne room window, and repurposed the 2 LEDs for the lightsabers at the base of the circular window piece, shining up behind Palpatine's throne. Even though the sabers are bright (I added a USB dimmer to help), I think it looks more film-accurate. You can see the detail on the circular window piece much more, and the blue control pedestals stand out more on their own without the blue LED strips in the arch. The original kit kind of makes the circular window piece fade into the background. BUT, this kit gave me all the essentials to get where I wanted to be (USB power, main board for power/connections, blue pedestal lights, and the 2 cool white LED lights I repurposed from the lightsabers) and I only added new lightsabers to make it pop and add more color. I recommend it as a starter kit. And it's perfectly fine if you like it as-is! I just wanted to see what else I could get out of it. At this price, this light kit is worth it even if the blue LED strips are dominant and not film-accurate. Modifying it was simply a matter of unplugging a few wires from the main board and adding, removing, and rearranging the lights. Now this is a lovely set that sits on my desk.

Surprise Christmas gift to a Star Wars fan. He hasn't made it yet. Great customer service and awesome packaging. Highly recommended.
