Punch, Punch and more Punch

The EMAD2, which I first got exposed to when I bought an old Sonor Phonic kit, was a surprise to me. I had tried them before in stores and thought them to be pretty dead overall. However, on a thick shelled bass drum with sharp bearing edges, they really sound great, very punchy but with a very controlled "boom." I immediately swapped out the very flat sounding Remo PS3 head that came stock on my SQ1's, and it sounded like a different bass drum. Highly recommended.
