Thread began to fray as I was unspooling it by hand so I could thread it onto a bobbin. Then, once I began attempting to repair one of my high-vis vests for work the thread broke almost immediately. The fabric of the vest is very thin and not tough at all, so it should not have done enough damage to the thread to cause it to rip apart like that.
