The Essential, (Almost) Perfect Mac Mini Companion

I own an envious amount of Satechi products—you can always bet on the quality of design, form and function with Satechi. The Mini. The Stand & Hub Enclosure. USB4 Slim Enclosure. (And now the TB5 Cube Dock…which I’m pining for but waiting to resolve the issue here). All thoughtfully crafted and designed to maximize the Mini’s potential while streamlining your workflow (and making it blazing fast, too!) This enclosure fits that bill, and being able to use it not just with Mini, but its slim form and mobility also let me edit straight off the drive, hooked into a MacBook Pro (M4 Pro) port.. Can get a tad warm under heavy load, but nothing unusual or alarming. BUT…the plastic screw plate at the bottom is a little wonky, and mine has gotten stuck quite a few times, aligned properly & all. ATM it is hopelessly stuck, and I’m afraid I’m going to have to break it to get into the compartment which stores BOTH 1) Data cable & 2) The installed NVME, which is worth well more than twice the cost of the enclosure itself. A bit disappointed in Satechi, as they are generally responsive to customer issues, but I’ve submitted an inquiry/claim *weeks* ago and…nothing. Radio silence. I can forgive an occasional defective component, it happens—though in my experience it’s relatively rare with this company, to their credit. What I don’t understand, and why I’ve removed a star, is the lack of support or customer service. My footage is trapped in there, and I can’t even ask them if prying the lid off voids the warranty. Backups are on standby but this overpriced drive is coming out one way or another. A little help here would be great. (Other than that, I highly recommend…just test your locking mechanisms thoroughly first!)

Very easy to install. A fast and increase way to increase memory especially for drive backup. The enclosure design should have had a simple locking mechanism for the Mac 4 mini.

Nice design. Looks great with the Mac Mini. My only suggestion is to “add more weight” to the enclosure. It moves around too easily.
