Folkcraft® Hammered Dulcimer Hammers Kit

Good basic hammers, easily assembled

Received two pair of hammers in the kit, already cut and rough shaped. Assembly was easy, using a bit of wood glue to attach the handles. I didn't care for the blackened edges where it had been cut with a laser, so I attached a sanding disk to my Dremel, and sanded everything and shaped the handles for a more comfortable fit. Finish was simple, using a clear coating. I did find the leather strip was quite long enough to cover all four hammers - the fourth was about 1/4"-3/8" shy. I will say these hammers are light, about half the weight of my other hammers. I'm experimenting with wrapping silver wire around the handle down close to the head to increase the weight and action of the hammers; I should be able to find a nice balance. Overall though, a great way to get some backup or alternate hammers for your dulcimer!
