What a Great Little machine ! The MMX Nomad

I waited with great trepidation for the delivery of my Nomad and when it finally arrived all the way over in the UK it did not disappoint. It does exactly what you described it would do and more. Out of the box following a short read of the manual it was a breeze to set up. The screen is quite intuitive so no having to work out what is going on in it is clear and straightforward. Its ability to be able to work in external mode with any transceiver is very useful and gives it a unique flexibility. It’s a real allrounder and fun to use I would recommend it for anyone interested in CW. If I were to suggest any possible improvements for the next model/evolution perhaps the ability to plug into an external screen when in external mode would be useful.

MMX Nomad

Purchase and delivery good. Usage not quite as simple as shown in the overview, although the Nomad did start-up as described. The actual reception and subsequent TX was (IMHO) a little clunky, with disappointment in the ability to receive CW station not as expected. Since I am not a native CW ham, expectations were wide open, with my only other reference being FLDIGI in CW mode. Reception, once I could figure out how to find the CW tone that would decode, was not solid and (perhaps as expected by CW experts) contained may missed characters and words. Copying ARRL broadcast messages was mostly solid. Likely I need more time and experience on the Nomad to figure out the secrets to better reception. N1JCM

Turned this machine on and was decoding within seconds,,, would definitely buy again. Just wish it had an automatic channel scan for hands free listening.
