Daphne!
Earlier this year as I walked through the local botanical garden in my city, I was (pleasantly) struck by the most beautiful smell. Wandering through the paths I came across a shrub with tiny clusters of white flowers. Originally I thought it was Jasmine (to my surprise since I hate Jasmine and all heady heavy indolic flowers). A kind woman sitting on a bench next to the shrub informed me the flowers I was so taken by were “Daphne” flowers. Despite being a flower and plant lover, never before had I heard (or smelled) Daphne before. Taking one last inhale of the fragrant flower I now knew to be named Daphne, I whipped out my phone and started to research Daphne scented fragrances online, only to discover on Fragrantica there are very few perfumes with Daphne as a note. I’m not a perfumer so I am not sure why Daphne is not more common; I assume that it’s just not well known (I myself was 37 before I first smelled the flowers) or perhaps the woodland fairies make it difficult to harvest the blooms. Whatever the reason, I very much enjoyed the opportunity to try the Daphnedil sample in my cirrus discovery set. I tend to veer towards unisex fragrances. While this scent is listed as unisex, I believe it’s more feminine leaning (partly because of the Plumeria note which makes me think of the 90s era Plumeria scented Bath and Body works collection that my aunt loved). This is a beautiful scent and I do enjoy smelling it. It may not be something I reach for to put on my skin as I prefer more earthy vibes for skin scents, I do love to smell “Daphnedil” and appreciate it being in my samples collection to bust out when I am sitting behind my desk and work, looking at the wondrous beauty outside my window and wishing I too could frolic in the flowers.

The shop slipped a sample into my previous purchase and I fell in love! Warm, yellow, spring forward scent; I think that perfumes with any kind if narcissus can be challenging or ‘cold’ scented; that said i find this incredibly comforting. Defijitely not a white or green floral.

Beautiful old school floral
Such a sweet pretty scent for the warmer months. Floral but not overwhelming or powdery. Fresh bouquet
