Excellent no-nonsense DAC

The Cyan 2 is a very impressive sounding and beautifully made DAC - it feels like a solid chunk of metal! I’d originally bought a Denafrips Pontus 15th from another dealer. I tried two in fact, but both suffered from occasional clipping when playing CDs, so they were returned. The Cyan 2’s soundstage is broad and deep, the low-end is more punchy, and the higher frequencies are more ‘airy’ than the DAC in my Naim NSC222 streamer/preamp. These differences are subtle, but quite apparent. For about half the money, I’d say the Cyan 2 gets within a gnats-whisker of the Pontus. I’m using my Cyan 2 with just a CD transport, so the ‘sticky switching’ issue doesn’t affect me. The front panel LEDs are a tad bright, but that is a nit-pick when the sound is so great. Elise Audio were straightforward to deal with throughout. Very pleased 👍🏼

Wonderful sounding DAC,great timbre. Huge soundstage and perfect imaging. If you want to take this a level further, send it PGGB DSD files or Hqplayer for realtime upsampling. . Kicks way above its price bracket
