Candido 800 - 35mm Film

New, clean AHU look(?)

I previously gave this film 4/5 due to the unpredictable halation. 5/5 - love the new, clean look. I bought it again to shoot around Christmas, this time expecting the halation. Much to my surprise, the shots came back really clean-looking. I wish I’d known before - some pictures were specifically taken with halation in mind, but I much prefer the new look. I can see online that Candido are now respooling the new AHU Kodak Vision3 500T, so no more remjet layer removal and halation. It’s a personal preference, but I love the new look. Fantastic for low-light, indoor shots etc. around the winter months. Just bare in mind you won’t get that glowy look around lights if it’s the new stock. Might be worth rating it at ISO 500 too.

The film is pretty decent

It's a nice film, It does the job, it's alright in low light conditions, the noise is a bit too heavy. I definitely wouldn't push this film but in the end, it does the job. Colours are nice as well.

Great fun, especially at night

Bought this because I really miss Aurora 800, and wanted to give night photography a go. Some shots came out super grainy, but I think that's because i was firing at quite high shutter speeds. Slowed down to bulb and you get really decent fine grain, and it performs beautifully during overcast days too. There are so few 800 speed colour films out there, especially at this price. Definitely recommend giving Candido a go.
