Chapel Kit

I love that the Chapel Kit is designed from the ground up for churches. It allows the drum mics to do their job, resulting in a tightly focused and controllable drum sound, and - at least in my context - it does not require a drum shield. As a worship pastor in a church with smaller band compositions, I also really appreciate that the Chapel Kit pairs nicely with an acoustic guitar. Our old drum kit completely overwhelmed the acoustic, so we had to frequently shift our drummers over to the cajon. That's no longer necessary for us with the Chapel Kit because it sits in a much more defined place in the mix with minimal stage volume. Also, it is beautiful up on the stage! There are a couple of caveats that I want to offer simply because these drums are, in some ways, a fundamentally different instrument than a normal drum kit. First, these drums work best with a strong assist from your soundboard. Get them mic'd up properly, dial in the EQ, add a little reverb, and they will sound amazing. Second, you will need to coach your drummers to get the full benefits of the kit. It's a slightly different playing experience than a normal kit, with a different approach to how it generates sound, so drummers need to understand that they don't need to pound the heads into oblivion to get a great, full sound. With that out of the way, I really feel like the Chapel Kit was the perfect solution to the sound issues at my church, and I can't recommend it enough.
