First light at -5c
I finally got my chance to give first light to my new Askar 140APO and I’m very impressed so far. Jupiter with my also new 5 mm Nagler was my best ever view!
Very nice contrast and sharp moons. My next target was Orion and the trapezium with 4 distinct stars and a hint of the fifth. After that I’ve been able to confirm the optical views exceeded my expectations. My comparison scope is my Tak FS102 that I’ve cherished for years. What first attracted me was the incredible price that was offered. This is amazing value as well as the quality offered.
However, I did notice that the focused is a bit stiff and I hope it will resolve itself, and secondly the accessory mount brackets won’t accept a common Reddot finder. My 61mm Sharpstar has similar brackets but without the same problem.
The days of overpriced refractors have been saved with Askar and Sharpstar products.
