MagFlip - Leica Q3

I use the everyday filter on my Q2 and the mag flip hood is a game changer for spinning the polarizer! The included lens cap is awesome as well. The mag flip hood functions reasonably well, but does have a few issues. Unlike the Leica hood, the polarpro hood does not have precisely matched threads and instead uses a thick grease inside a rotating piece to line up the hood straight. This works reasonably well, but be warned, it can rotate, especially during hot weather when the grease is more viscous. Also, it sticks out a little more on the sides than the stock hood and unscrewing the everyday filter with mag flip hood attached is pretty much impossible. Overall it does the job, but I'd love to see a lower profile more refined version in the future.

I absolutely love the idea of this product. I purchased 2, one for each of my Q3 bodies. Two design flaws (as I see it) are 1: the good doesn’t tighten down on the lens the way the hood that came with the camera does, so it doesn’t stay in place. 2. they were made to work with both Q2 and Q3. The issue with this is the threading on these two cameras is different. To address this, that made a second ring to allow you to adjust the orientation of the hood to square off with the lens. Sadly, it doesn’t stay in place either. So the hood is either loosening from the lens, or the right slips and either way, it is always off kilter and loose. Not usable for me. Great idea, poorly delivered. They needed a separate version for Q2 and Q3 to address the outer ring issue, and design the hood to allow it to create tension from friction to stay in place. If they fixed these things, I would be thrilled to have them. Otherwise, they are junk for me now…

Works perfectly, not much bigger than stock Leica hood. I use CPLs pretty much permanently so this was a must for Tommy Q3.
